Café Savoy – Traditional coffee house with Viennese style and history
host mainly male guests that enjoyed the company of lightly dressed bar girls. In the course of years, the girls vanished – but the men stayed.
The coffee house owes its unique architecture to architect von Neumann, a former student of gay architect von Siccardsburg, who built the Vienna State Opera. Maybe that is the reason Café Savoy is widely popular among the national and international gay community. Apparently, creations by gay architects are appreciated.
A coffee house with tradition since 1896 – gay-friendly and exceptional
The Viennese Café Savoy was elaborately renovated in 2008/2009. With great care and an eye for detail, we made sure to leave everything possible in original condition.
What strikes our guests' attention when entering our coffee house? The two biggest mirrors made from one piece in Europe, only second to the ones in Versailles. Such magnificent architecture and interior creates a unique atmosphere to enjoy our traditional Viennese dishes and drinks.
Café Savoy is a traditional coffee house and exceptional gay bar in one. It is one of the best addresses in Vienna for lovers of architecture who want to enjoy both: a good cup of coffee and cultivated company. Visit our coffee house in the heart of Vienna and enjoy the unique flair of our house.
